Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Enable and Use Split View Feature in Messages App in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

If needed, you can turn on the split view feature in the Messages app in your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to have your phone divides the screen in this app becomes two so you can view the conversation list and the messages within the selected conversation at the same time while holding your phone in landscape view. It comes handy if you often need to easily move from a conversation to another to read/reply/forward a message because you don't have to tap the Back key each time you do so.


How to enable or disable the split view feature in the Messages app?
You can turn on or off this feature by using the following steps:
  1. Open the Messages app.
  2. Tap More at the top right and then select Settings.
  3. Tap More settings.
  4. Tap the ON/OFF switch next to Split view to enable or disable this option. When the switch turns means the split view feature is enabled.


How to use the split view feature in the Messages app?
See the following steps as the example of using this feature:
  1. Hold your phone in landscape view and then open the Messages app.
  2. Your phone will display the conversation list at the left side and the messages within the selected conversation at the right side.
  3. To open other conversation, tap the required conversation at the left side you want to open. The messages within the selected conversation will be displayed at the right side.
