Samsung Galaxy S4: How to Add a Video to Offline in Youtube App in Android 5.0.1 Lollipop

Youtube app has a feature that will let you watch videos during periods of low or no connectivity by adding those videos to offline. But, you have to remember that this feature only available if the video's content owners allow such videos offline. Thus, if the owner removes a video's offline availability, the video that you have added to offline may be removed from your device during the next sync.

How to add a video to offline in Youtube app?
Assuming that your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network, you can use the following steps to add a video to offline in Youtube app:
  1. Open Youtube app.
  2. To quickly find a specific video, you can use the search function by using the following steps:
    • Tap at the top of the screen.
    • Enter a keyword and then tap at the keyboard to start searching.
    • If you'd like to watch the video first, tap the preview thumbnail or title of the video from the search results list.
  3. While the video is being played, tap below the video playback to add the video to offline.
  4. Select the quality of the video: Normal-360p or HD-720p and then tap OK button. FYI, a higher quality video may take longer to appear in offline and it may take more space in your phone.
  5. The video will be added to offline and stored in your phone. If your phone loses connectivity during the progress of adding video to offline, the progress will be resumed automatically when you reconnect to a Wi-Fi network. If the video has been completely added to offline, this icon below the video playback will be replaced with this icon as a sign that the video is available for offline access.
  6. If you'd like to cancel the progress of adding video to offline, before the progress is completed, swipe the top of the screen using your finger to open up the notification and then tap Cancel transfer within the add video to offline progress notification.
