Samsung Galaxy S4: How to Enable or Disable LED Indicator in Android 5.0.1 Lollipop

LED indicator is a feature in Samsung Galaxy S4 that is designed to help you to easily know some conditions of your phone and notifications while your phone's screen is off. When this feature is enabled, your phone will light up or flash the LED indicator that is located at the top left corner above the screen when your phone is being or fully charged, when your battery level is low, when you have missed notifications(e.g: missed call, unread message, etc) and when you're recording voice while the screen is off.

How to enable or disable LED indicator feature?
You can set LED indicator feature by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notifications panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. Tap My device tab.
  3. Tap LED indicator.
  4. Here you'll be provided with the following options:
    • Charging: tap the checkbox next to this option to enable or disable this option. When this option is checked or enabled, your phone will light up the red LED when the device is connected to a charger and is charging while the screen is off. When the battery has been fully charged, the LED indicator will turn green.
    • Low battery: tap the checkbox next to this option to enable or disable this option. When this option is checked or enabled, your phone will blink the red LED when the battery level is low while the screen is off.
    • Notifications: tap the checkbox next to this option to enable or disable this option. When this option is checked or enabled, your phone will light up the blue LED per 10 seconds when you have missed notifications(e.g: missed call, unread text messages, unread email messages, other default app notifications, etc) while the screen is off.
    • Voice recording: tap the checkbox next to this option to enable or disable this option. When this option is checked or enabled, your phone will blink the blue LED per 1-2 seconds when voice recording is in progress while the screen is off. FYI, this option is only available when the LED indicator for Notifications option is enabled.

As a note, third-party apps usually have their own LED indicator settings. Thus, the LED indicator may light up or blink with other color when you receive notifications from third-party apps.
